Nitrogen Generator Maintenance:
Keep Your System Running and Your Production On Track
Proactive service extends equipment life, protects purity, and prevents costly downtime
Nitrogen Generator Maintenance
For manufacturers who rely on high-purity nitrogen gas 24/7, nitrogen generator maintenance is critical. Whether you're using a PSA nitrogen generator or a membrane nitrogen generator, consistent, proper maintenance keeps your nitrogen generation system operating efficiently.
At Specialty Gas Canada, we’ve seen how small oversights, like missed filter changes or clogged compressed air lines can cause serious production delays. That's why we treat maintenance with urgency and precision, ensuring your system continues to perform.
The Cost of Skipping Preventative Maintenance
Failures rarely happen quietly. Pressure drops, alarms sound, and nitrogen purity levels may fall. Often, these issues stem from avoidable problems like oil entering the carbon molecular sieve of a PSA unit.
One client delayed a routine service, and oil ruined their sieve. The nitrogen gas generator had to be replaced. With consistent care, that system could have run for another decade.
Routine maintenance helps you avoid these costly situations. Prevention is always more affordable than replacement.
Common Problems We Prevent
Every service call we make is about preventing this exact scenario. Regular maintenance protects against oil and water contamination, falling nitrogen purity levels, worn-out compressed air filters, and unplanned downtime. These are more than just technical issues — they're operational risks that can disrupt your entire workflow.
When to Service Your Generator
The right maintenance schedule depends on the design and operating conditions of your nitrogen generation system. Not all systems age or wear at the same pace. Generators that run 24/7, handle higher demand, or operate in more challenging environments (such as hot and humid without proper ventilation) may need more frequent attention. We always start by assessing your specific usage and provide tailored guidance. But here’s a general rule of thumb:
PSA Systems
Our modular PSA nitrogen generators, like the Peak 7000 series, typically require only one service per year. That visit includes filter changes, carbon media replacement, check valve and muffler service, and diagnostics. One visit. A full year of performance. Proper care helps these systems last up to fifteen plus years
Membrane Systems
Membrane nitrogen generators need servicing twice a year. Their filters and internal components wear faster—especially with an integrated compressor. Each visit includes element changes, compressor checks, and membrane life assessments. Proper care helps these systems last up to five plus years.

What Our Maintenance Includes
We don’t just change filters and walk away. We inspect the whole system: swap filters, evaluate carbon media, test exhaust components, check compressors, analyze purity, and document everything. You'll know exactly what was done and what to expect next.
How You Know Maintenance Is Overdue
Our PSA systems have built-in alerts and alarms, but here are four signs you might have missed your window: high oxygen alarms, unstable nitrogen purity, inconsistent pressure, or strange compressor noises. Any one of those is a red flag.
Why Clients Rely on Us
Our clients rely on us because we prioritize reliability, consistency, and communication. For clients running around the clock, we create routine maintenance plans tailored to their operations. Whether it means monthly visits or annual service, we work closely with your team to schedule nitrogen generator maintenance that keeps your nitrogen supply uninterrupted. We’ve seen the difference proactive care makes. It’s the difference between long-term reliability and sudden, costly breakdowns.
Scheduling That Works for You
Our admin team works directly with yours to schedule service with minimal disruption. A typical visit takes 2 to 3 hours. If you have two systems, we can service one while the other stays online.
What Makes Our Maintenance Different
We assign the same technician and solutions expert to your system every time. That means we understand your equipment and keep historical context. You get upfront recommendations, accurate service reporting, and a clear plan for what comes next.

When Things Go Wrong, We Respond Fast
If something breaks, our response is fast. Within the GTA, we can be on-site in 2 to 3 hours. Outside the region, we start with remote support. In 90% of cases, we resolve issues without a visit. And if we do need to come, you'll know exactly when we’ll arrive.
